Hello! What. A. Week.
I was in Warwickshire for the first half, and each evening rang at a different local church. On the Tuesday they were 1 short for Stedman Doubles, and... with 5 minutes to learn the line, we had a go. I rang the 5th:
It was not successful. Stedman has new things for me like backstroke leads and point turns, and the few minutes to learn the line was not enough. But on Wednesday, the next day! We tried again, and eventually made it through a plain course! 🥳
I can't wait to ring it properly; all in good time. Mathematically it's a beautiful method with lots of symmetry, it sounds excellent, and it's one of those that people ring regularly.
And on Thursday we rang a quarter peal because why not, and in the tower with aircon:
Then today, Sunday, was busy: I ended up ringing at 3 different churches, including one St Peter's in Walworth for the first time. They are LIGHT, incredibly light, and I rang the 2nd at one point which would be the lightest bell I've ever rung, at 72.6kg. It was a lot of fun though; they fly around.
